Dr. Pickrell attended Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, on a four-year full-tuition scholarship, graduating with honors. He then completed a six-year integrated plastic surgery residency at Harvard Medical School, followed by an orthopedic hand fellowship at Harvard Medical School, where he specialized in complex hand, wrist, and forearm reconstruction.
Throughout his surgical training, Dr. Pickrell earned numerous accolades, including the Harvard Plastic Surgery Resident Teacher of the Year Award and the Harvard Academic Achievement Award for earning the highest national in-service exam score four times. His academic contributions include over 30 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, and he remains engaged in select research initiatives.
Dr. Pickrell is highly skilled in treating various hand and upper extremity conditions, including injuries and disorders affecting bones, tendons, ligaments, vessels, nerves, and soft tissues. At LAOSS, he offers advanced surgical techniques tailored to restore function and improve patient outcomes. He also offers awake surgery for common hand ailments such as trigger finger and carpal tunnel syndrome. Dr. Pickrell prioritizes patient education and aims to treat all his patients as if they were his own family members.
